UFC 98: Evans vs. Machida event.

The Ultimate Fghting Championship (UFC) will be putting on a very interesting mma card at the UFC 98: Evans vs. Machida event. The vent will be held Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday May 23, 2009.

The main card will feature the current Light Heavyweight Champion Rashad Evans. Evans who will be defending his title for the fist time since he won it in devastating fashion against Forrest Griifin will face the elusive Lyoto Machida. This intriguing match-up has a strong potential to be the fight of the night. Both fighters, have great skills however the deciding factor on who will most likely be  the one who can best maintain their gameplan. Despite Rashad Evans being the current UFC Light-Heavyweight Champion, most bookies have Machida as the clear favourite.

The co-main event will feature the long awaited grudge match between Matt Serra and Matt Hughes. Both these fighters have a long history of verbal exchanges and have not been shy in letting people know about their dislike for each other. Serra and Hughes are comming of losses and this match will almost likely determine the future as to their career within the UFC. Most MMA analysts have Hughes winning this fight through the utilisation of his strong wrestling and ground and pound. Despite this perceived advantage of Hughes, this match will almost likely be a tough and a close fight which is most likely to go to a decision.

The other interesting bouts on this card include a fight between Sean Sherk vs Frankie Edgar and Dann Miller vs Chael Sonnen.

Sean Sherk will be looking to re-assert himself back in to title contention and Edgar will be looking to move up in the UFC rankings. Most mma pundits have Sean Sherk winning this fight convincingly. Dan Miller vs Chael Sonnen is another great match up where the winner will likely move in the top ten UFC rankings in the middleweight division. This wil be another close battle with most people predicting a Sonnen win primarily beocuse of his experience
